YLZO 2 (ocarina)

MY OCARINAS CAME IN TODAY!  I'm so excited.  These are the Ocarinas I bought. (STL tenor and soprano "echo" ocarinas)

Already I've cracked open the lesson book and within the first ten minutes of just messing around I can now read C, D, and E on a music staff as well as play marry had a little lamb.  Considering that prior to this I could not read music whatsoever I'd say that is a big improvement!  I can't wait to really play around with this more tomorrow (today I have some things to do and can't really do so)!

I also had an absurdly bright pair of shoes come in today...bright like this blog.  I should snap some photos of this stuff later when I have more time.

YLZO 1 (ocarina related)

At last I have decided on what my first ocarinas will be and purchased them ( for those who didn't know my New Year's resolution is to learn to play the ocarina)!  I decided to go with the STL Echo tenor and soprano ocarinas (the tenor in black and white and the soprano in blue and white).  I looked around for awhile on a lot of different sites and at a ton of ocarinas on STL's site (as well as reading David Ramo's Ocarina guide book) before deciding on these.  I had thought about getting the Zelda OOT replicas, the very beautifully decorated hobbit ocarina, the DIY paint it yourself ocarina, the Zelda inspired potion ocarina, as well as just getting a less expensive plastic ocarina.  I landed on the Echos because they are not only beautiful but they are part of a decent package deal also containing cases and song books.  Also, I feel like because these aren't replicas or plastic that I won't feel like I need to upgrade for awhile (if I want multi chamber ocarinas down the road i'll upgrade then).  I'm really quite excited to have ordered these at last!

Here is a video of Cris Gale playing the STL soprano echo ocarina I purchased (also I really like the song she is playing).
I also purchased a workbook and dvd beginners guide.  STL also sent me links for free beginner lessons.

I'd also like to mention that SLT is currently having an anniversary sale where you can get 20% off of your purchase by using the code "birthday20" at checkout.  The offer is only valid through tomorrow so if you have been thinking of getting an ocarina (looking at you Aza!) then you should jump at this chance while you can.

* Is there a way to do something similar to an LJ CUT here? (an LJ cut is where you can write out a long entry then "cut" it to appear behind a text link making it so that your full entry is viewable upon clicking the text link but not until then.  Makes it so your main page isn't all spammy with text.

Introduction and Stuff

AND SO IT BEGINS AGAIN but this time with less inactivity, more doodles, more projects, and far more babble.  I've decided to leave the snow and possibly yeti covered tundra of LJ for the rolling hills and sky whales of this place!  This site came recommended by a surly gnome and a lazy panda and I'm pretty sure that when gnomes and pandas give you advice that you should take it.

I imagine that what i'll be posting are drawings and silly paintings, images of things I make, babble about games or books, and progress on learning assorted things.  If silly doodles, watercolor owls in hats, crochet, ornaments, teapots, MMOs, sci-fi fantasy books, ocarina, language study, or aquatic life happen to interest you at all then this blog might entertain you a little.  If not, you are going to be bored out of your mind.
